Our Story

In 1981, Helen opened a small dance studio in her hometown with the hopes of sharing her passion for dance with the community. Starting with only a handful of students, Helen focused on providing quality instruction in Jazz, Tap, and Ballet. As her reputation grew, so did her business. She added hip-hop and lyrical classes to cater to the changing tastes of her students. Additionally, she expanded to include power tumbling for those who wanted to build strength and agility. Today, 42 years later, Helen Gordon School of Dance is a fixture in the community, attracting students from all around. Helen’s dedication and love of dance have helped shape the lives of countless aspiring dancers over the years, inspiring them to achieve their dreams and pursue their passions.

We are thrilled to welcome Ariel as a new tumbling instructor at Helen Gordon School of Dance. Ariel is no stranger to our dance community as she was once a student at HGSOD. She has always had a passion for dance and tumbling. Ariel is eager to pass on her knowledge to the next generation of dancers at our school. We are excited to have her on board.

Nahla Moreau, Mali Rodriguez, and Harper Guillory: Class Assistants

At HGSOD, we are proud to have three dedicated dancers on our team who have stepped up to the position of class assistant. First up is Nahla, who started dancing at a very young age and quickly developed a passion for it. After years of rigorous training and performances, she became a class assistant, where she now helps students improve their technique and form. Next is Mali, who also started dancing at a young age and has been training for years. Finally, we have our youngest assistant, Harper. As a class assistant at HGSOD, Harper brings the young energy to all of her classes that she assists. Nahla, Mali and Harper are a valuable addition to our team of dedicated instructors, and we are proud to have them as part of our HGSOD family.
